I suppose you're right, but could wingsuits be added that would keep you aloft if you had an aerial battle. And another note, certain Pokémon, regardless of type, may not be able to participate in an aerial battle. Hawlucha can glide, so maybe/maybe not. Doduo/drio don't have wings.

I've also had problems with Pokémon only spawning a short distance around the spawnpoint. Is this a known bug as well?

If wingsuits were added, you could fly with your flying-types and maybe perform aerial battles. The suits would also be handy parachutes. Admittedly, I've only seen these in The Series XY, so would they be added with gen. 6?

Maybe? Because if leave a custom trainer for too long, it despawns and it's fairly annoying.
