I began experiencing this issue in 8.3.1c where progressing the Shooting Star quest objectives would not allow the quest to progress to the next stage.
Under 8.3.1c I completed the Defeat/Capture objectives, however instead of updating to talk to the professor the quest updated to have no objectives, just sitting in my quest log with no further interactions.
After updating to 8.3.3 I abandoned the bugged quest and re-initiated it. This time it successfully progress to the talk to professor stage, then the defeat trainers stage, and then back to the talk to the professor stage. However, after talking to the professor I do not receive the Dynamax unlock and the quest fails to update, instead I only receive the player XP reward and the quest updates to have no objective but remain in the actives log.
Interestingly, if I save and reload the game the quest updates back to talking to the professor and I can do so again to get the player XP, but I still can't progress the quest itself.

Thank you for the report, however, I was unable to reproduce your issue. I ran through the full quest in survival mode as well as with the /setstage command with no such result. Dynamax band & player XP were awarded as intended.
