Im aware it probably sucks because I have never made something like this before but I need some constructive criticism to make it better lol...

pretty much, just blender is free, while you have to serch for the student version of maya to get it free.
After for what it gives, I don't really know but I thought blender to be simpler, but if you can get tutorials or someone help ya out, then maybe maya is better.
It's not my piece of pie, but I suggest personnaly Blender.
