okay, interesting yet annoying bug
i loaded up a previous world and my apricorn farm has been screwed with...
they all changed to a different color apricorn and one row actually turned into fossil cleaners...
i mean, i guess i could fix this, but thought i just would point that out XD

ok sorry about that, but one question..
do i have to go to a new chunk for fossils to spawn in my old world? and what layer are they typically found?

New Chunk, Ocean Biome Layer 40-64
