I'm a mum who's son would like to download Pixelmon.

Please can someone help me with an idiots guide of how to do it. We currently have minecraft but I need to know what files to download, and then if there's an order to download them in.

Thanks for your help in advance :)

#160198 Hi, you came to the right place. Ok so there is slightly different instructions for a mac and PC (windows).

If you have a windows computer the easiest way will be to use the pixelmon launcher. To do this you will need to download the pixelmon launcher and when it has finished downloading install the launcher. You can download the pixelmon launcher here - http://pixelmonmod.com/downloads.php. The download button will take you to an add, DON'T PRESS ANYTHING. after 5 seconds the top right will say "skip add". This is what you want to click. . When you have the launcher installed run the program. For info on how to use the launcher from here you can refer to a guide I made (http://pixelmonmod.com/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=19861) or the wiki (http://pixelmonmod.com/wiki/index.php?t ... n_launcher).

If you have a mac you will need to chose a pixelmon version you wish to use from the downloads page (http://pixelmonmod.com/downloads.php). At the far left of the top table under the launcher download you will find version numbers. The first number is the pixelmon version and the second number is the minecraft version it runs on. When you have decided on a version look along the row for that version. In the forge link column you will find a number. Go to this page (http://files.minecraftforge.net/), scroll down and click "show all downloads". When all downloads are viable you need to scroll until you find the version number that matches the version listed on the pixelmon downloads page for the version of pixelmon you want. Click the link that says ONLY "installer". The download button will take you to an add, DON'T PRESS ANYTHING. after 5 seconds the top right will say "skip add". This is what you want to click.. When that is downloaded install it to the .minecraft folder (click ok to everything). After that has finished you will need to open the minecraft launcher and select the forge profile (it was just created). With that profile selected run the game. When the game has booted close the game again. You will now need to download the version of pixelmon you wanted from the downloads page (http://pixelmonmod.com/downloads.php). The download button is the furthest left column to each row. The download button will take you to an add, DON'T PRESS ANYTHING. after 5 seconds the top right will say "skip add". This is what you want to click. When you have download the pixelmon version you need to place the .jar file in the "mods" folder located in your ".minecraft" folder. To find the ".minecraft" folder

Use Finder's 'Go' menu. ...
Use Finder's 'Go to folder...' command ( ⇧ + ⌘ + G ) and copy / paste ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft.

When you have dragged the pixelmon jar file into the mods folder you are free to launch the game as before and you will have pixelmon installed.

#160200 Thank you for your help. I'm a bit confused as to what to do once I've installed it. I've logged in as my son's username and it has a pixelmon screen. Which part of the instructions above do I need to do now? Sorry to be a pain, just want to make sure I do it correctly :)

This is for windows by the way.

That video goes though the more difficult process of installing on windows without the launcher.

#160325 Have you done this
click select java install then find java.exe for the java you want to use. For example my java can be found at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_51\bin\java.exe". When browsing to find it go to "C:" then if you want to use 64 bit java (and have it installed) go to "Program Files" otherwise go to "Program Filesx86". When in the correct program files folder open the java folder. Next open the folder for the version of java you want to use. Next open the bin folder and then double click java.exe . This should then show the launcher where to look to find java so that it can run pixelmon for you.
