#101585 There is a person who is continuously making accounts on our forums for no reason other than to harass us. He has posted everything from vulgar/obscene images to spam that will cause anyone who opens the thread to lag out. He continues to spam our shout box and forums, even after being banned. He will make new accounts and fake IP addresses to use every day to no end.

Today he went as far as impersonating me,giving his new account the same name and icon as mine, in order to mass-email all of the members of our community telling them we are shutting down our Minecraft servers. He has taken his abuse too far and now I'm wondering if I can start taking legal action action against him. I have his original IP address and know exactly where in Canada he lives.

We actually have 3 pages on Enjin that he is constantly attacking, each for a different Minecraft server:

http://pokeheavenmc.enjin.com/home
http://pokeheavenjohto.enjin.com/
http://finalheavenmc.enjin.com/home

If something like that were to happen here, I'd imagine it wouldn't last very long. What kind of steps do you take to stop people from simply generating a new IP to post from?

#101920 Maybe you could try to disable proxies. But I doubt its possible..

#101924 You don't need a proxy if you want to change your ip. Most home networks do not have the same ip all the time. Normal ISPs have a certain set of IP addresses and every time a router connects, it gets a random one.

#101939 I would start by contacting Enjin to see if there is anything they can recommend to you. You may also want to PM someone like Isi or another large server owner to see if they have any suggestions for you.

#102083 I have emailed his internet service provider in Canada including Enjin's Terms of Service agreement and his IP. It looks like he will likely have his account with them terminated, and if there are no other ISPs in the area he can go to it looks likely he'll have no internet to use at all. Let this be a lesson to all you spiteful "trolls" out there.

Edit:

Turns out this is a great way to stop people from making chargebacks on Paypal donations or really screw them if they do. If they agree to not make a chargeback of their donations in the Terms of Service they could find themselves without internet for breaking that agreement.
