Switching to Reforged

I see a lot of people asking what benefits there are to switching to Reforged, or people that are asking for old versions of the Original Mod that can no longer be distributed. So I decided to make this page to describe the advantages of updating from older/alternative mods to Reforged.

Reasons to update to Reforged

Continued support towards the mod

Older versions of the Mod don't get any bug fixes/performance updates, whereas Reforged is continuously updated and bug tested so will give people a better experience

New Pixelmon with every update

Each version of Reforged that comes out always brings new Pixelmon with it, whether it be megas, alternate forms or even remodeling the older Pixelmon to make them less blocky.

Friendly, Helpful staff

On the discord there are multiple friendly knowledgeable staff 24/7 who are more than happy to help with a wide range of issues, from setting up to your own server, assisting in editing your own spawning JSONs to your personal needs, even providing you with sidemod links to help out your player base.

New and exclusive features

Reforged has some exclusive features that came to this mod first. Some of those features are:

• Spear Pillar and the Timespace Altar
• External Mega Evolution
• The Better Spawner

And much more to come

Generation 7

Generation 7 will be eventually be coming, once all of the stuff from Generation 6 is implemented and working bug free, but when Generation 7 comes, it will have its mechanics brought in within 1 update, whereas the Pixelmon will be spread out periodically, bug free and amazing as always.

The mod even runs on 32-bit Java

Starting with 6.2.3, the Reforged mod is happily running client side at 1GB of RAM, so those with 32-Bit computers can even play alongside and not miss out

Updating to Reforged from Original versions

Any version before 5.0.3

Unfortunately any progress from these versions cannot be transferred over due to needing to update in stages, and its illegal to distribute older versions of the mod. But with a fresh start, players are going to be able to pick starters that they were never able to pick before.

Version 5.0.3 and later

Data is able to be transferred over easily from these versions to the latest version of Reforged with no problems. If you are needing assistance with this, make sure to head over to the Pixelmon discord where the staff there are more than happy to assist

Updating to Reforged from other mods

Updating from other mods to Reforged is also an easy process. Any Pixelmon not currently implemented in the mod is placed into deep storage and can be retrieved from it the moment it is then added in. Any stats, abilities, Ivs, etc will be copied over exactly the same as it was on any other mod.
