Catch rate

From Pixelmon Wiki
(Redirected from Catch rates)

Each Pokémon has a certain catch rate which influences the chance of capturing the Pokémon. A lower catch rate means that the Pokémon is more difficult to capture. Generally, stronger and/or rarer Pokémon like Legendary Pokémon, Starter Pokémon, and evolved Pokémon have lower catch rates, while more common, unevolved Pokémon like Pidgey or Caterpie have higher catch rates. The chance of capture can be raised by weakening the Pokémon, inflicting a status condition on the Pokémon, and using certain types of Poké Balls.

Formula

The probability of catching a Pokémon can be calculated with this formula:

Rate×Ball×Status(1-(⅔)(HPCurrent/HPMax))/255

  • Rate is the Pokémon's catch rate.
  • Ball is the multiplier of the type of Poké Ball being used to capture the Pokémon. If a Heavy Ball is being used, its modifier is instead added directly to the catch rate.
  • Status is a multiplier applied if the Pokémon is under the effects of a status condition. Without a status condition, Status is 1×. If the Pokémon is:
    • asleep or frozen, Status is 2.5×.
    • paralyzed, burned, or poisoned, Status is 1.5×.
  • HPCurrent is the current HP of the Pokémon.
  • HPMax is the maximum HP of the Pokémon.
