The Drowned World (also known as the Plane of Water) is a water-filled dimension inhabited by Drowned Pokémon.

Entering the Drowned World

The Drowned World is accessed by accepting the "The Water Plane" Quest from a Quest Giver NPC with a teal exclamation mark over their head. Doing so will immediately teleport the player to this dimension. This quest is only available between September 10th and January 31st.

The Drowned World can also be accessed by using the Drowned World Teleporter, which can be found in the Creative Mode inventory.

Inside the Drowned World

The Drowned World is a dimension completely submerged in water. Water blocks fill the dimension from y=0 all the way up to the build limit. Visibility in the Drowned World is low. There are also ambient particle effects.

There are several large structures suspended in the water that are mostly made of stone. They also may have kelp, seagrass, or tall seagrass on top of them, and there may be veins of magma blocks in them. Most of these structures are the shape of stalagmites with some cavities.

The Drowned World contains three different biomes: Drowned Warm, Drowned Crimson, and Drowned Dark. These biomes only differ in the color of the water and the appearance of the particle effects. The Drowned Warm biome has blue water and bubble particle effects, the Drowned Crimson biome has red water and lava dripping particle effects, and the Drowned Dark biome has black water and ghost particle effects.

Pokémon

The Pokémon populating this dimension all have Drowned palettes. They can be battled and defeated, but the player cannot capture them until they have completed the "The Drowned" Quest. If that quest has not been completed, the Pokémon found in the Drowned World will break out of any Poké Balls thrown at them, including Master Balls.

As part of the "The Drowned" Quest, Drowned Lugia can be battled here. Drowned Lugia is a Drowned Boss Lugia which has Lugia's Drowned palette and a unique Ability called Revenant. Drowned Lugia cannot be caught.

Leaving the Drowned World

The player is teleported out of the Drowned World if any of the following happen:

  • The player's y-level becomes 10 or less.
  • The player's y-level becomes 246 or greater.
  • The player dies by drowning (the player will be teleported out instead of dying).

As the Drowned World is completely submerged in water, it is encouraged to have a means of preventing the breath meter from depleting so that the player's journey through the Drowned World isn't cut short. Methods of doing this include riding a water mount, drinking Water Breathing potions, wearing a full set of Water Stone Armor, building a conduit, or completing the "Water Like Air" Quest (which grants 5 minutes of Water Breathing and Night Vision). The player can use the bubble columns from magma blocks to restore their breath meter.
