Pixelmon Showdown is a Pixelmon minigame that gives players teams of six random Pokémon to battle against each other with. It is based on the random battle feature on Pokémon Showdown.

Overview

When a player enters Pixelmon Showdown, the player is given six random Pokémon. All Pokémon in a given round are the same level, but this level changes randomly every round. Pokémon moves are decided as follows:

  • Two random 50+ base power moves from the Pokémon's level-up moves
  • One random 50+ base power moves from the Pokémon's level-up or TM/HM moves
  • One random move from the Pokémon's level-up, TM/HM, or Egg moves

The Pokémon's level does not limit the moves that could be potentially selected from the level-up movepool; Pokémon may have moves that they normally wouldn't be able to learn at their current levels. The Pokémon may be of any evolutionary stage regardless of level.

The random teams will not always contain six completely random Pokémon. At times, all players in the round will be guaranteed to get a certain category of Pokémon as one of their random Pokémon. These categories can be in any combination and are announced before the round begins.

For example, a round may consist of teams that each have 1 starter Pokémon, 2 trade evolutions, 1 Fossil Pokémon, and 2 random Pokémon.

Each round is completely separate from the next; there is no tournament elimination format and none of the Pokémon used in one round will be retained in the next round. The only consequence of a win or a loss is the outcome of the battle being broadcast to the server when the battle ends.
