A Sun Stone shard can be obtained by mining Sun Stone ore or by using Forage on stone-based blocks with a Fire-type Pokémon. As Sun Stone ore does not spawn naturally, Forage is the only legitimate way to obtained Sun Stone shards.
Nine Sun Stone shards can be crafted into a Sun Stone.
