An Exp. Share is a hold item used to distribute experience to another Pokémon when equipped without the Pokémon needing to be used in battle. If the holder does not participate in the battle, experience will be shared equally between any holders of the Exp. Share and any participants. If the holder does participate in battle, the holder will gain 1.5x the equal split while any other Pokémon that participated will only gain 0.5x the equal experience split. Any holder of the Exp.
