Entering Ultra Space
To enter Ultra Space, a player must either find a naturally spawned Ultra Wormhole or obtain the Pokémon Arceus, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, or Palkia.
If the player finds a naturally spawned Ultra Wormhole, they will be able to mount a flying Pokémon or build-up to the portal and enter it. When the player enters the portal, they will automatically be teleported to the Ultra Space Dimension.
If a player instead finds any of the Pokémon Arceus, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, or Palkia they can then use the external move Spawn Portal, which will create a portal in the sky from where it was activated. This portal can then be accessed the same way that a naturally spawned portal can be entered, however, this process can be redone after the external move cooldown has finished.
Inside Ultra Space
The Ultra Space dimension is somewhat similar to the Overworld, but is comparatively more hostile and tricky to traverse. Ultra Space is home to powerful Ultra Beasts, but plenty of typical Pokémon still appear.
Inside Ultra Space, gravity is lower than in the Overworld, and the player can jump to approximately 6 blocks in height. To compensate, the threshold for fall damage here is reduced. Similar to the End, Beds will explode when interacted with, and Nether Portals will not light.
Ultra Space is afflicted with a fairly heavy fog that restricts long-distance vision somewhat, but can be negated by equipping Safety Goggles in the player's helmet armor slot at the cost of a slightly narrower field of vision.
Currently, Ultra Space consists of the Ultra Deep Sea, Ultra Desert, Ultra Forest, Ultra Jungle, Ultra Plant, and Ultra Crater biomes.
Structures across Ultra Space may contain Beast Chests that contain valuable and some otherwise unobtainable items such as Beast Balls and blank Alolan TMs.
Hidden Ability Pokémon and Shiny Pokémon will spawn twice as often inside Ultra Space.
(Note): Having a Pokémon with the Run Away Ability is recommended to prevent all Pokémon in your party from fainting if the aggressive Pokémon option is turned on
Ultra Beasts
The ten Ultra Beasts are only obtainable via Ultra Space. These ten are:
Leaving Ultra Space
There are three ways to exit Ultra Space. Firstly, the player can depart through other Ultra Wormholes that may randomly spawn nearby during their visit. Alternatively, Arceus, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, or Palkia can be used to create an exit Wormhole with the external move Spawn Portal. Lastly, if all party Pokémon faint while inside Ultra Space, the player will safely be ejected back to the point of entry.
Regardless of the area where an exit Wormhole is used, the player will return to the same general area at which they entered Ultra Space (though changes in height between entrance and exit will be retained, sometimes spawning the player lower or higher than expected).
