异色宝可梦是一种拥有奇异色泽的宝可梦。这种奇异的自然色泽可能较为温和，比起通常色泽仅仅是深了或浅了一点点；也可能有着非常明显的对比度。这种色泽不会与一种与异色宝可梦颜色不同且无法被捕捉的Boss 宝可梦相混淆。每只宝可梦都有非常低的概率（默认为14,096）是异色，而异色宝可梦也因它们外表独特、较为稀少而广受欢迎。
异色宝可梦并不会在战斗中展现出比通常宝可梦更出色的能力，因为异色仅仅是单纯地会影响宝可梦的外表。一只异色宝可梦会散发出有色粒子，并且在与训练师战斗时，其等级下方会有一颗星星。异色宝可梦也拥有一个金色的名字。野生的异色宝可梦不会与其它野生宝可梦触发战斗。
如果两只参与培育的宝可梦有着不同的初始训练师，它们的蛋就会有2倍的概率孵化出异色宝可梦。您也可以使用闪耀护符来增加异色宝可梦的出现概率，该道具会令异色概率从原先的1/4096提升至3/4096，约为1/1365。另一种提升异色宝可梦出现概率的方式便是使用引虫香水（异色）来提升异色出现率至原先的1.22倍，或是黄金香水（异色）来提升异色出现率至原先的1.73倍。
使用指令"/pokespawn 宝可梦名称 s"，例如"/pokespawn Pikachu s"，便可以生成一只异色宝可梦。
