Special drops are items that can be obtained from boss Pokémon, PokéLoot chests, or Pickup. They primarily consist of different types of Poké Balls, Medicine, held items, and TMs. Special drops are split into three tiers of increasing rarity and item quality. Within each tier, items are randomly chosen with uniform probability to be obtained.

1-50 100% 0% 0%
51-80 90% 10% 0%

Customization

Special drops can be customized by enabling the "useExternalDropFiles" config setting. After doing this, a "drops.json" file with be created in the "pixelmon/drops" folder in the main Minecraft directory.

Once the drops.json file is opened, special drops can be changed by adding or removing item IDs in each of the three special drop tier lists.
